Map N68º09´E14º13´

Map N68º09´E14º13´ is a site-spesific work made in an experimental, embodied process of mapping the body-nature connection at this location corresponding to these navigation coordinates.

The meeting between the topography of the human body and natures ground has been captured on paper, then drawn upon and made into a map.

It is a cartographic work made in a collaborative process between th e artist Sissel Aurland, space, place and time, visualizing the close connection between the human body and nature.

The work invites reflection on the intertwined relationship between humans and nature, posing questions about sustainability and the co-existence between humans and non-humans, asking questions to how rocks belong to the landscape we are part of.

This map is exhibited for 5 weeks, 18.July - 22.Sept. 2024, at this place of creation.

This project is part of the new art festival Anti-Biennale: Art in Arctic Nature, exploring nature as a venue, and included in the official program of Bodø2024 European Capital of Culture. Fund support from The North Norwegian Art Center (NNKS), Nordland County Municipality (NFK) and Bodø2024.

Sissel Aurland is born and raised in Harstad, member of North-Norwegian Visual Artists ((NNBK) and The Association of Norwegian Visual Artists (NBK), and holds MA Fine Art from The Open College of the Arts in England.  link to artist presentation
